LATINO AGING NETWORK MEETINGSaquimilwaukee.com online exclusiveBimonthly meetings have emerged as a dynamic networking event for Milwaukee’s Latinos, as well as platform to focus on the problems of aging.![]() Jesús Barbosa, the multicultural outreach coordinator for the Alzheimer's Association of Southeast Wisconsin, has in the last year spearheaded the development of one the most dynamic networking events in Milwaukee. Held every other month at 6130 W. National Ave. (in the Wells Fargo building), the Latino Aging Network meeting features talks by leading community figures that inform participants on of the country's fastest-growing challenges: the aging population, specifically as it relates to Alzheimer's. The next meeting is at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 6. According to the Alzheimer's Association, one of every eight people 65 years and older has Alzheimer's, a debilitating disease that attacks a person's memory. Latinos have been found to be particularly at risk in a number of studies. For any questions, call Jesús Barbosa at (414) 479-8800, or email him at jesus.barbosa@alz.org. Check out some photos from the last LAN meeting held April 18. The first seven photos were taken by ¡Aquí! Milwaukee. The last six photos are courtesy of Jennifer Kinkade for the Alzheimer's Association. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
