WE’RE 3 YEARS YOUNG!With this issue, ¡Aquí! Milwaukee Magazine turns 3. Woo-hoo! Why is that important to you? For one, the magazine is proving that the Latino community in Southeast Wisconsin is broad and diverse enough to sustain a magazine that speaks to (and about) all Latinos: first-, second- and third-generation Hispanics like you. That says a lot about the local Latino community. What's also important - and appropriate, if you ask me - is that this issue marks the first time ¡Aquí! Milwaukee is posting content exclusively on our Web site. As an accompaniment to this print issue (our second annual music issue), www.aquimilwaukee.com has posted the most complete list yet of Southeast Wisconsin-based Latino performers - a virtual phone book of local Latino musicians (plus how to contact them to book them for a show, as well as links to their Web sites to hear their music online). Also, our Web site now has a blog updated by yours truly several times a week, and original stories and interviews that you can find only at www.aquimilwaukee.com. It's just another way to stay connected to your community, so check us out. Meanwhile, enjoy this issue, including our story about the local Latin music community; businesswoman and mother Marta Bianchini; and artist Santiago Cucullu at the Milwaukee Art Museum. For now, enjoy a peek blow at ¡Aquí! Milwaukee's covers from June of 2005, 2006 and 2007. |
