Come and See for Yourself![]() I grew up in a neighborhood similar to the south side: heavily immigrant, working class and located within sight of a major metropolitan area. I vividly remember how many people in the more affluent parts of town often made it a point to avoid having to pass through my side of town for fear that something bad would happen to them. That was, and is, a real shame. Communities like the south side are vibrant, exciting melting pots that have so much to offer. While it has challenges, people like WIlma Fonseca, featured in this issue, are working hard to tackle them. If you live on the south side, you may be surprised by something you learn about your side of town in this issue. If you don't, hopefully you'll find something that inspires you to visit it soon to get a taste of some of Milwaukee's most dynamic neighborhoods. Raul Vasquez Editor/ Associate Publisher |
